Invoice and GST Data Extraction for B2B Payments
Extract GSTINs, HSN lines, tax splits and IRN data from supplier invoices before a B2B payment or invoice financing is released, with tax-logic and duplicate checks.

The problem
B2B payment and invoice-financing platforms receive supplier invoices as PDFs, scans, Excel exports and e-invoice printouts with an IRN and signed QR code. Before money moves, someone has to confirm who is billing whom, for what, with what tax, and that the same invoice has not already been paid or financed.
Endless layouts
Every supplier's invoice looks different, and template-based OCR breaks on new formats, multi-page line items and stamps over text.
Tax field errors
A wrong place of supply, CGST and SGST charged on an inter-state supply or a mistyped GSTIN causes input tax credit problems for the buyer later.
Duplicate payment and double financing
The same invoice resubmitted with a reformatted number or as a different file can be paid or financed twice.
Changed bank details
Invoices carrying new bank account details are a common fraud route, and a busy reviewer may not compare them with the supplier master.
What we build
We build an invoice extraction service that plugs into your payment or financing workflow through an API. It reads invoices in any common format, extracts header fields, line items with HSN or SAC codes and the CGST, SGST, IGST and cess split, and decodes the e-invoice QR code where present. It validates GSTIN structure, checks tax logic against the place of supply, recomputes totals and matches the invoice to its purchase order or payment request. A duplicate check compares supplier, invoice number, date and amount with everything already processed, allowing for reformatted numbers. Any bank detail that differs from the supplier master is always flagged. Exceptions go to an operations queue with the reason.
- Extracts supplier and buyer GSTIN, invoice number and date, place of supply, line items, HSN or SAC codes and tax splits
- Decodes the signed QR code on e-invoices and compares IRN data with the printed values
- Validates GSTIN structure and checks intra-state versus inter-state tax logic
- Recomputes line totals, tax amounts and invoice total, and flags arithmetic or rounding errors
- Detects likely duplicates across reformatted invoice numbers and re-uploaded files
- Returns structured JSON through an API, with confidence scores and page references
How it works
- 01Receive the invoiceInvoices arrive through your platform's upload, an email-in address or an ERP integration, attached to a payment or financing request.
- 02Extract fields and linesOCR and an LLM extract header, line and tax fields, and any e-invoice QR code is decoded.
- 03Validate tax and arithmeticGSTIN structure, place-of-supply tax logic and totals are checked, and QR data is compared with printed values.
- 04Match and de-duplicateThe invoice is matched to its PO or payment request, compared with previously processed invoices and checked against supplier bank details.
- 05Resolve exceptionsLow-confidence fields, failed checks and possible duplicates go to an operations reviewer with the reason shown.
- 06Release structured dataApproved invoice data flows back to your payment or financing engine and to the ERP export.

Where people stay in control
Operations reviewers resolve every exception, including possible duplicates, bank detail changes and tax-logic failures, before payment or financing proceeds. The service decides only whether an invoice needs a human look, never whether a supplier is paid.

FAQs
01Does it confirm that an invoice is a genuine e-invoice?
It decodes the signed QR code and compares it with the printed invoice. If you use a GST verification provider, it can also check GSTIN status and e-invoice details through that provider's API.
02What about invoices without an IRN?
Many suppliers are below the e-invoicing turnover threshold, so IRN is treated as optional. Those invoices rely on extraction, validation and duplicate rules.
03How does it cope with poor scans and handwritten bills?
It handles skewed scans and phone photos well enough for most printed invoices, and any field below the confidence threshold goes to a reviewer. Accuracy is reported separately for clean PDFs, scans and photos in the pilot.
04How is it priced?
We start with a fixed-price pilot. Production cost depends mainly on invoice volume and page count, and we estimate it per thousand invoices once the pilot shows real page counts and exception rates.
