The problem
When a feeder trips or a storm hits, a utility's complaint lines fill within minutes with callers asking the same question in several languages. Between outages, the same agents handle bill amounts, due dates, payment confirmations and new connection status, while genuine safety calls such as a snapped conductor wait in the same queue.
Outage spikes overwhelm the lines
Callers hear busy tones exactly when they most need to know whether the fault is known and being fixed.
Repetitive billing questions
Bill amount, due date, last payment and duplicate bill requests take up much of agent time between outages.
Language coverage gaps
Callers speak Hindi, Hinglish and regional languages and dialects that the night shift may not cover.
Safety calls stuck in the queue
Reports of fallen wires, sparking poles or water on a meter board need immediate human attention, not a place in line.
What we build
We build a voice agent that answers on your helpline or IVR, recognises Hindi, Hinglish and the regional languages of your area, and identifies the consumer by account number or registered mobile. It checks the outage management system for known faults on the consumer's feeder or transformer and shares status, quoting a restoration time only when the control room has published one. For new faults it registers a complaint and sends the docket number by SMS or WhatsApp. For billing it reads amount, due date and payment status and can send a UPI payment link. Any mention of a safety hazard transfers the caller to a person at once.
- Identifies consumers by account number or registered mobile, with a verification step before account details
- Checks known outages by feeder, transformer or area and shares only published status
- Registers no-supply, low-voltage and meter complaints and returns a docket number
- Reads bill amount, due date and payment status and sends a UPI payment link
- Transfers immediately to a person on safety keywords such as wire down, sparking or shock
- Speaks Hindi, Hinglish and the regional languages chosen for your service area
How it works
- 01Answer and identifyThe agent detects the caller's language and identifies the consumer by account number or registered mobile.
- 02Screen for safetyAny mention of a fallen wire, sparking, fire or shock transfers the call to a live agent and alerts the control room.
- 03Understand the requestThe agent classifies the intent: no supply, voltage problem, bill query, payment or new connection status.
- 04Look up systemsIt reads outage status from the OMS or billing details from the CIS through APIs.
- 05Resolve or hand overWithin scope, it registers the complaint or sends the payment link; otherwise it hands over to an agent with a summary.
- 06Log the callTranscript, intent, docket number and outcome are written to the CRM for reporting.

FAQs
01Which languages and dialects can it handle?
Hindi and Hinglish, plus the regional languages of your service area. We test recognition on recordings of your own callers, including local place names and terms like feeder and transformer, before the pilot goes live.
02What if the outage system has no information about a fault?
The agent registers a complaint, gives the docket number and says the fault has been reported. It never invents a cause or a restoration time.
03Can it handle a storm-day surge?
Yes. Capacity scales with concurrent call channels rather than staff on shift. When many calls come from one feeder, the agent can share the known status first and record new complaints only where the fault is not yet logged.
04Does it replace our existing IVR?
No. It plugs into your IVR or telephony as a menu option or overflow route, so the existing menu, agent desks and reporting continue.
